Every now and then we’re reminded that a case is more than just storage. Sometimes it protects tools, gear or electronics. And sometimes it protects history.
Recently, a customer sent us images from a remarkable moment — several of America’s founding-era documents leaving Washington, D.C. by air for the first time aboard what’s called the “Freedom Plane.”
The documents are traveling across the United States as part of a national tour ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026.
Among the historic documents traveling on the tour are:
- An 1823 engraving of the Declaration of Independence
- The 1774 Articles of Association
- The 1783 Treaty of Paris

These documents will be transported to eight cities across the United States:
- Kansas City
- Atlanta
- Los Angeles
- Houston
- Denver
- Miami
- Dearborn
- Seattle
Seeing a ZARGES aluminum case used to transport and protect materials connected to such an important moment in history is incredibly meaningful to our team.

Protecting What Matters Most
Transporting rare historic documents is no small task.
They must be protected from vibration, temperature changes, humidity, and handling during transit — especially when traveling by aircraft.
That’s exactly the kind of challenge ZARGES cases were built to handle.
ZARGES aluminum cases are engineered for demanding environments and critical missions. Features such as fully welded aluminum frames, reinforced stacking corners, weather-resistant seals, and durable hardware ensure that sensitive equipment — or irreplaceable documents — remain protected throughout transport.
What makes this story special is that the same case trusted by:
- expedition teams
- aerospace and military operations
- scientists and field researchers
- photographers and filmmakers

A Nationwide Tour of American History
As part of the Freedom Plane tour, these founding-era records will travel to eight cities across the United States, allowing Americans the opportunity to experience important historical documents up close.
The tour is designed to build excitement and awareness leading up to America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, celebrating the documents and ideas that shaped the nation.
For us, it’s a reminder that sometimes a simple aluminum case carries something far greater than gear.
Sometimes it carries history.
And we’re honored that a ZARGES case is playing a small role in protecting it.
