Clean, sealed, sterilizable

The smooth, non-porous surface of aluminum can be sanitized easily and repeatedly, and the aluminum withstands −238°F to +302°F without damage or deformation, allowing high-temperature decontamination at the end of a job.

Aluminum absorbs impact energy without cracking or rupturing, protecting the contents if a case is dropped in the field.

  • UN HazMat certification available for K470, K424 XC, K410 and K475 cases
  • UN-2814 certification for transport of infectious substances
  • Category 6.2 internal-bag slide-seal approval available

How UN packing works

ZARGES cases are approved as UN composite packaging (codes 4B, 4BU, 4BV, 4BW and 50B). The approval is for combination packaging: the hazardous material goes in its own inner packaging rated for that substance, such as a sealed bag or a bottle, and the aluminum case is the certified outer container. The case and the inner packaging meet the certification together.

The K470 is certified to the X rating, Packing Group I, under BAM certificate D/BAM 8311/4B1. X is the highest of the three UN packing groups, so an X-rated case is approved for Groups I, II and III, by road, rail, sea and air.

Common Questions

FAQ

What certifications do ZARGES biohazard cases carry?

UN Packing Group I, UN-2814 for infectious substances, and Category 6.2 internal-bag slide-seal approval, depending on model.

What is UN 2814?

UN 2814 is the UN dangerous goods entry for infectious substances affecting humans, part of Division 6.2. ZARGES offers UN-2814 certification for their transport.

Can a biohazard case be decontaminated?

Yes. The aluminum withstands up to 302°F without damage, so cases can be sanitized repeatedly, including by high-temperature decontamination.

Does a UN-certified aluminum case need periodic re-testing?

No. Aluminum does not age the way plastic does, so a certified aluminum case does not need periodic re-testing. A visual check for external damage before each shipment is sufficient.
