Everything you need to know about ZARGES cases, specs, ordering, and policies.
Depending on the product line, ZARGES containers offer IP54 (protected from dust and splashing water), IP65 (dust-tight, protected from jetting water), or IP67 (dust-tight, submersible to 1m for 30 min). The K470 standard is IP54, with upgrades available to IP65 or IP67.
ZARGES cases are tested from −65°F to +176°F (−54°C to +80°C), so they suit extreme cold and heat. The aluminum itself keeps its material properties across a far wider range, −238°F to +302°F (−150°C to +150°C).
The ergonomic spring-loaded handles are rated for a handle load of 110 lbs (50 kg) per handle.
ZARGES cases are available in 1mm, 1.5mm, and 2mm aluminum (18 gauge, 15 gauge, and 12 gauge aluminum sheet), depending on the product line.
Yes. ZARGES cases are compatible with a 6mm shackle lock and 3mm seal wire. A TSA-approved shackle lock is also available for travel.
Yes. K470 models feature stacking corners that allow secure stacking of multiple cases for transport and storage.
The K470 is ZARGES's flagship aluminum case, available in 30+ sizes. The K424 XC is a wheeled transport case with telescoping handle. The K475 is a larger transport container. Each is engineered for specific use cases and load requirements.
KOR Technik is a ZARGES partner. Its patented VRS® (Vacuum Rigidizing Structure) panels are an interior configuration for the K470, offered alongside foam — but VRS is not foam; KOR Technik's VRS panels replace traditional foam. Each panel is a MIL-Spec textile exterior over a sustainable fill; a KOR pump pulls a vacuum on them so they encapsulate the contents and movement does not occur during transport. Compared to foam, VRS reduces weight by 40% and triples interior volume, and it is reusable and infinitely customizable.
The Chameleon™ collection is a modular, adaptable case system designed for gear that changes frequently. It features removable dividers and reconfigurable interiors.
ZARGES aluminum cases are 50% lighter than plastic cases and 70% lighter than roadie cases, with 2–7x greater tensile strength. They offer 15–20% greater interior volume in a smaller footprint and are precision-welded in Germany for unmatched durability.
Three are. The K470 models 40810, 40568 and 40678 are certified bear-resistant by the IGBC (Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee), which approves them for backcountry food storage in national parks and wilderness areas.
Yes. ZARGES Inc. is registered with the U.S. State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) under ITAR, so we can work with defense contractors and government agencies on controlled items.
K470 cases are tested to MIL-STD-810 methods for salt fog and fungus, plus rain and blowing dust on IP65 versions. The K470 is UN-approved for hazardous materials up to Packing Group I, and ZARGES cases meet ATA 300 Category 1 for air transport. We've achieved CMMC 2.0 Level 2 Phase II readiness and continue to maintain it, even after the Department of War suspended the Phase II mandate in 2026 — we hold ourselves to it regardless. We also hold CAGE code 51YQ0.
Yes. ZARGES offers EMI/Faraday cage options providing >60dB attenuation across 150kHz–18GHz frequency range, suitable for protecting sensitive electronics from electromagnetic interference.

A complete list of everything going into the case and accurate equipment data. 3D CAD models in STEP format are strongly preferred; fully dimensioned 2D drawings or a physical sample can also be used. The requirements explain the design process, the data we can accept, and how we protect your information. Custom Foam Design Requirements (PDF)
ZARGES cases are precision-engineered and manufactured in Germany, where the company has operated for over 90 years. The US headquarters is located in Charlotte, NC.
For weight, tensile strength, and long-term UV/temperature stability, yes — aluminum is up to 50% lighter and 2–7x stronger than comparable plastic cases, and doesn't become brittle with age. Plastic can still make sense for lower-budget, infrequent-use needs.
Yes. ZARGES vs. Pelican
ZARGES is precision-welded aluminum; SKB's core lines are molded polymer. ZARGES vs. SKB
ZARGES industrial cases — corrosion-resistant aluminum, IP54 sealing with an IP65 option, and a 2,000 lb stacking load — are built for equipment, instrumentation, and regulated-material transport. Industrial & Commercial Cases
ZARGES aerospace cases are manufactured to aerospace-grade tolerances and are up to 50% lighter than comparable plastic cases, without sacrificing crush resistance or sealing. Aerospace Cases
Match IP rating, temperature range, and foam configuration to your equipment — custom-fit foam inside an IP-rated aluminum case protects against shock, moisture, EMI, and temperature extremes. Sensitive Equipment Transport
Yes — IP54 sealing as standard, tested from −65°F to +176°F, with an aluminum body that doesn't rust or become UV-brittle. Weather-Resistant Storage
Yes — every case is built from 5005-alloy aluminum, which forms a natural, self-healing oxide layer and doesn't rust the way steel does. Why Aluminum
Yes — ZARGES Inc. is a Registered US Government Supplier (CAGE code 51YQ0), ITAR registered, and CMMC 2.0 Level 2 ready for direct procurement. Military & Government
