What MIL-STD-810 is
MIL-STD-810 is the US Department of Defense standard for testing how equipment stands up to its environment: rain, dust, salt air, fungus, heat and cold, vibration, shock and drops. It is a set of test methods, not a pass mark. A program picks the methods and severity levels that match where its gear will go.
That is why there is no such thing as a single “MIL-STD-810 certificate”. The honest way to state it is which method, which edition and which case — so that is what this page lists.
Which ZARGES cases were tested, and how
The results below come from the ZARGES GmbH Defence Catalogue. Each line names only the case series the catalogue says was tested; a method that was run on a Mitraset rack case is not claimed for the K470, and the other way round.
TESTED TO US MILITARY STANDARDS.
Results from the ZARGES Defence Catalogue. Each test was run by an independent testing institute or on ZARGES' own test rigs, on the case series listed.
Rain & Blowing Rain
40 mph wind, approx. 4 in/h rainfall, minimum 30 minutes per side.
Blowing Dust
20 mph dust-laden wind, two 6-hour runs.
Salt Fog
96 hours salt spray at 95°F (shipboard and coastal service).
Fungus
28 days in fungal-growth conditions (jungle and humid storage).
Wheeled-Vehicle Vibration
Composite wheeled-vehicle vibration profile, shock-mounted rack frame included.
US Highway Truck Vibration
Common-carrier profile for cases shipped by truck on US roads.
Transit Drop
Procedure IV transit drop, simulating drops during handling and shipment.
EMI Shielding
Shielding effectiveness measured to the US standard for electronics enclosures.
Reusable Air Transport
Rated for at least 100 round trips. Tested by Dayton T. Brown, an independent US lab.
Beyond the US standards. The same cases are also qualified to European and NATO defence standards, for example the German military standard VG 95 447, NATO AECTP 400 tracked-vehicle vibration, and UN hazardous-goods packaging type-tested under Germany's federal materials institute (BAM).

FAQ
Are ZARGES cases MIL-STD-810 certified?
MIL-STD-810 is a set of test methods rather than a certification. ZARGES cases have been tested to specific methods: MIL-STD-810G 506.5 rain, 510.5 blowing dust and 509.5 salt fog, 810F 508 fungus and 514.5 vibration, 810G 514.6 truck vibration, and Method 516.6 transit drop, each on the case series listed on this page.
Is the K470 MIL-STD-810 tested?
Yes. The K470 has been tested to MIL-STD-810G Method 509.5 salt fog and MIL-STD-810F Method 508 fungus, and the K470 IP65 to Method 506.5 rain and Method 510.5 blowing dust.
What is the difference between MIL-STD-810F and 810G?
They are successive editions of the same standard. 810G (2008) replaced 810F (2000) and revised several methods; each ZARGES result names the edition it was tested to.
Where can I see the test data?
The Tests and Certification page of the ZARGES Defence Catalogue is linked on this page as a PDF. For full test reports on a specific program, contact the ZARGES USA team.
